Brilliant Cosmos

Deep-sky images from a backyard Dobsonian — explore the galleries, learn the science, take home a print.

Welcome

Welcome to Brilliant Cosmos. Almost everything you'll see here was photographed from my driveway in Wisconsin with a 17.5-inch Dobsonian telescope — a giant light bucket that most people will tell you is the wrong tool for deep-sky photography. I happen to disagree, and the galleries are my evidence.

This site has two purposes. First, it's a place to share the wonders of the universe: every image comes with a written description of what you're looking at and an audio recording that reads it aloud, and the blog digs deeper into the science behind it all. Second, it's where you can bring those wonders home — my images are available as glossy HD metal prints, ready to hang.

So look around, learn something, and if a piece of the cosmos catches your eye, you know where to find me.
